Verizon iPhone Officially Announced

After YEARS of speculation and pages and pages devoted to the once mythical gadget, the Apple iPhone for Verizon has officially been announced. The iPhone will run on CDMA on Verizon’s network, meaning you can not use data while making or receiving a call. You will be able to tether from your iPhone, turning it into a hot-spot to give 3G access to your laptop or other devices. Current Verizon customers can pre-order the iPhone starting February 3rd, while the phone will be released February 10th, 2011. Prices are $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model, both requiring a 2 year contract and data plan.

One word of warning. Though this was not mentioned, Apple does they’re yearly iPhone refreshes in June, so potential customers may want to wait a few more months to get the latest and greatest from Our Lord & Savior Apple CEO / Mastermind Steve Jobs.
