|Top 10 Movies Box Office 4/11/14-4/13/14|
Captain America ruled the weekend box office for the second weekend in a row (April 4 through April 6, 2014) as Captain America: The Winter Soldier absolutely dominated the weekend box office with $41.39 million in it’s second weekend. It has now grossed $159 million in 10 days in the US alone. This is further proving that Marvel’s MCU Phase Two projects are getting a huge boost from Marvel’s The Avengers. The extremely strong reviews have certainly helped the film (See our review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier here).
Rio 2 came in second place with a huge $39 million for it’s first week in theaters. That put’s it right in line with the $39 million first weekend of Rio back in 2011. It eventually went on to gross $143 million in the US. Oculus made it’s budget back in it’s first weekend out taking in $12 million. This will definitely go on to be profitable for the studio.
