After the massive success of the 2016 limited event series, The X-files Revival Returning to TV Again!
The truth is still out there as Fox announced Thursday that The X-Files are opening back up once again. Season 11 of the show will air for a 10 episode season to air late Winter 2017 through Early 2018.
Originally starting in 1993 on Friday nights before moving to Sunday’s and becoming one of the most popular shows of all time, the original 9 season run of The X-Files ended in 2002. The X-Files: Fight The Future feature film was released during the height of the show in 1998 while the follow up film The X-Files: I Want To Believe was released in 2008. In June 2013. IDW began releasing a line of comics called The X-Files: Season 10 continuing the tales of our two FBI special agents. The comic, written by Joe Harris and executive produced by series creator Chris Carter, was a bonafide hit for IDW.
In 2015, it was announced that The X-Files would be returning as a limited event series spanning just 6 episodes. What became known to fans as Season 10, or The X-Files Revival, aired in January 2016 and was a giant ratings success for Fox. With critics and fans praising the shows return to television after 13 years, the question for more immediately came up.
Stars Gillian Andersen and David Duchovony hinted about returning, while Chris Carter was more concrete. Fans will be thrilled to know that the 2017 / 2018 season of The X-Files (Season 11) will span 10 episodes this go round.
The X-Files will begin production this summer with a late winter 2017 debut.
