These Past Idols Will Join American Idol Series Finale
American Idol has had an absolutely incredible run. Now, in it’s 15th and final season, Fox has some surprises in store as these past idols will join the American Idol series finale.
Fox is giving it’s most successful show ever a huge send off as American Idol will air a three night series finale kicking off Tuesday April 5th, 2016. A 90 minute retrospective titled American Idol: American Dream starts the grand finale, bringing back original judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson as past contestants and crew reveal personal stories on what the show has meant to them.
On Wednesday April 6th, the final voting show will take place as the final two go head to head where one of them will be crowned the final American Idol on Thursday April 7th, 2016. Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood will be on hand to perform at the very stage that kicked off their incredibly successful careers. Kellie Pickler, Josh Gracin, Danny Gokey, Bucky Covington, Lauren Alaina and many, many more finalists and contestants will make appearances in the three night finale.
American Idol debuted as a Summer filler on Fox on June 11, 2002. Based on the British series Pop Idol, the show quickly became the most successful television show in history, hitting a peak of 38.1 million viewers for the Season 2 finale. Idol remained in the Top 3 most watched shows every year for 7 straight seasons, an unprecedented number.
