Apparently The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is not so amazing after all as it was beat at the box office in it’s second weekend by party boys Zac Efron and Seth Rogen in Neighbors. Neighbors, in it’s first weekend took in a whopping $51.1 million making it the third highest opening for an R rated comedy of all time. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 took in $37.2 million a 60% drop in it’s 2nd week in theaters. That means that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will likely be the lowest grossing Spider-Man film to date. Yet, Sony plans on trying to pull a Marvel and build an entire universe around Spider-Man. Of course, the difference being that Marvel has an entire universe to build off of and Sony has…Spider-Man. Still, that won’t prevent them from their plans to release a Spider-Man movie each year. Look for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to do worse in the coming weeks as Godzilla opens next week with X-Men: Days of Future Past coming the week after.
