Kick-Ass 2 brings back most of the stars from Kick-Ass but takes everything up a notch. After the events in the first film, Hit Girl (played perfectly by Chloe Grace Moretz) tries to return to life as a normal high school girl, against the wishes of Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). After the notoriety they received, seemingly everyone wants to be a super hero. Since Hit Girl no longer wants to team up, Kick-Ass joins a rag tag group of super heroes, Justice Forever, led by Colonel Stars and Stripes (played by a completely unrecognizable Jim Carey).

MOVIE REVIEW: Kick-Ass 2 (cntd)…

After spending Kick-Ass trying to be a super hero, rich kid Chris D’Amico (played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse) he’s back and he’s angry. Now, he sets his sights on becoming the biggest super villain known to man and becomes “The Motherf*cker“, hiring the biggest thugs he can find to take down Kick-Ass and his loved ones.

The film fits right in the world of Kick-Ass, but isn’t just more of the same. Much like 300: Rise of an Empire, we see the world through the eyes of Hit Girl and her attempts at acting like a “normal” teen-aged girl. This brings a freshness to the story while keeping us grounded in the world we loved in the first film.

As all good sequels must, the stakes have been raised in Kick-Ass 2 and the effort pays off. It’s bigger, badder and more violent than the first one. It certainly deserves its R rating, from the sexuality, the language and the violence. This is not a kid’s movie. This is definitely aimed right at adults.
