Marvel Entertainment and Netflix have announced that Marvel’s Luke Cage TV series will premiere September 30th 2016.

If you’re unfamiliar with the comic book, or what the series will focus on: An experiment that is sabotaged goes horribly wrong leaving Luke Cage with super strength and unbreakable skin. Cage rebuilds his life in Harlem, New York City, when he must emerge to battle for his beloved city.

Mike Colter plays Luke Cage with Alfre Woodard, Frank Whaley and Rosario Dawson joining the Season 1 cast. The comic book version of Luke Cage ties in heavily with Iron Fist, who will be getting his own Netflix series next year.  All of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) TV show’s are tied in together (as is everything in the MCU). So at this point, fans have already met Luke Cage in Marvel’s Jessica Jones series. Marvel’s Iron Fist follows next year, followed by Marvel’s The Defenders mini-series, which will bring all four of the “Hell’s Kitchens” heroes together to fight a much larger threat then they had faced before.

We can’t wait for the March 18th premiere of Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2, followed by Marvel’s Luke Cage Season 1 premiere September 30th. Will you be tuning in?
