Lee DeWyze’s Debut Single Sells 95,000 For #12 Debut

American Idol 2010 winner Lee DeWyze released a cover of U2‘s “Beautiful Day” as his first single. The single, available for download only hours after he was crowned winner, has debuted at #12 on the Billboard Digital Songs, selling 95,000 copies. Interestingly enough, his take of “Hallelujah” hit the charts at #20 with 63,000 copies. “Falling Slowly” his duet with Crystal Bowersox debuted at #38 with 44,000 copies. Last years Idol, Kris Allen debuted at #4 with 134,000 downloads of  “No Boundaries“.

This is also the first year an original song was written for the show. Innnnneressin, huh?
