Karate Kid Chops Up The Competition

It was a battle to the (box office) death of 80’s remakes this weekend as The Karate Kid took on The A-Team. The Karate Kid won as it took in a surprising $56 million over the weekend. The A-Team didn’t do to shabby itself taking in $26 million, but still came in below studio expectations. The Whore didn’t realize they had high expectations for the film. The Karate Kid, starring Will Smith’s son Jaden Smith, ran an unusually long 140 minutes for the PG film. Shrek Forever After fell to third place in its 4th week taking in almost $16 million and giving it a grand total of $210 million. Next week will see huge numbers for Pixar’s Toy Story 3 which is sure to be huge. Jonah Hex is also debuting.
