Harry Potter Breaks The Dark Knight Record

WOWZERS! Harry Potter fans were out in full force this weekend! Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2 opened to an absolutely incredible $168.6 million this weekend, beating out The Dark Knight total of $158.4 million back in 2008. Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2 now owns the record for biggest opening weekend in U.S. history. It also smashed the midnight release record bringing in $43.5 million for 12am showings. Further, it now also owns the record for largest opening day with $92.1 million on Friday and the biggest IMAX debut with $15.5 million for the weekend. 3D theaters accounted for 43% of Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2’s gross.
