New Friday the 13th TV Series Coming

Friday The 13th will be coming to television as a series. While Friday The 13th: The Series ran from 1987 through 1980, it had no connection to the film series or Jason Vorhees (the show dealt with an antiques stores owner who tracked down cursed antiques – and was actually good). This time around, the Friday the 13th series will actually deal with it’s namesake and explore the town of Crystal Lake and the history of the Vorhees family.

Sean Cunningham
, the original director of Friday the 13th stated: “The series is contemporary, focusing on the eclectic characters of Crystal Lake who are forced to confront the return of the killer, as new secrets about his wacky family are revealed. The series is contemporary, focusing on the eclectic characters of Crystal Lake who are forced to confront the return of the killer, as new secrets about his wacky family are revealed. Jason Voorhees is synonymous with the genre and we plan to build on this legacy with a provocative and compelling take that expands upon the storylines that have already thrilled millions worldwide.

With that said, it seems this new Friday the 13th series will be in the same vein as the wonderful Bates Motel and Hannibal and explore the mythology behind the iconic horror character and his family.
