Apple announces the Apple HomePod smart speaker releasing in December 2017.
Today Apple kicked off their Worldwide Developers Conference 2017 detailing iOS 11, WatchOS 4, MacOS High Sierra, a number of improvements to the iPad Pro line, new macs and announced the Apple HomePod smart speaker.
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller took to the stage to announce the Apple HomePod – a breakthrough new smart home speaker. Featuring the powerful Apple A8 chip, a 7 beam forming tweeter array, acoustic horns with directional control and 7 microphones.
The smart home speaker works with your Apple Music app on your iPhone and iPad to automatically learn your music likes. You have access to all 40 million songs on Apple Music, as well as all of your own albums and songs. Additionally, the HomePod works as a smart speaker, to control your smart home technology to do tasks such as turn lights on, lock doors and control your homes HVAC system. The Apple HomePod will also give you full access to an upgraded Siri with deep learning and machine learning. This smarter Siri will now know the context of things you are asking and integrate with all of your Apple Apps to help you set reminders, get traffic and news and other important information.
Apple HomePod release date is December 2017 for the United States, with other countries to follow in the months after. It is priced at $349 and comes in white or black.
