Apes Rise To Top Of Box Office…Again

For the second week in a row, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes took the #1 spot in the U.S. Box Office. For it’s second weekend, Apes brought in $27.5 million, bringing it’s total to $104.9 million in two weeks. The reboot is already doing better than the 2001 reboot Planet Of The Apes, and has recouped it’s budget. Coming in a surprise second is The Help, a 1960’s period piece about a white woman writing a book on black maids in the South. The Help brought in $25.6 million, and will go on to have a very healthy run in theaters. Final Destination 5 came in third, with a relatively disappointing $18.4 million, well below the last two Final Destination films. Glee: The 3D Concert Movie came in at #11 with $5.7 million. Although this was below expectations, who really thought this was going to be a huge blockbuster summer film? It seems to be aimed at die hard Gleeks only.
